Improved Gait and Posture
Gait and posture can become a problem for many different reasons. The hydrotherapy treadmill successfully helps in the re-education of gait and posture. Balance and proprioception problems caused by neurological injury can also be improved.
We have four movable CCTV cameras that we can locate around the treadmill that project onto a split screen television so that we get a full view from all angles at all times.
These can be recorded by you to provide to your Vet, so that they can get a complete picture of how the sessions are progressing. It allows your Vet to suggest feedback for best treatment of your companion. These are also great to refer back to as sometimes you can see the progress better when watching back through the footage.
Working Together With Your Vet
Using the Underwater Treadmill
Our Hydro Physio underwater treadmill is the latest
in design and is extended in length to fit even the
biggest of our companions allowing space for our hydrotherapists to be inside providing hands
on support to aid correct gait.
It has a walk-through design to help build confidence
and ensure we do not need to turn your companion
around to exit which is particularly important in
our spinal condition clients.
The buoyancy of the water reduces the effects of weight bearing stress placed on the joints.
Hydrostatic pressure promotes lymphatic drainage which aids is the reduction of pain and inflammation. Pulse frequency decreases meaning the heart works harder.
Resistance is four times harder than on land due to the density of water, this strengthens the musculature and water vortex massages the skin.
Our underwater treadmill has 360 degree viewing
allowing the therapist to easily observe your
dog's gait and range of motion.
The depth of water can be adjusted reducing the weight bearing by up to 60 percent on joints. This allows for exercise that your companion may be reluctant to perform on land. Speed, depth and direction can be individually adjusted,
giving a very tailored therapy program.
At Water Walkies, we ensure that our clients are always supervised by our qualified canine hydrotherapists and they provide complimentary benefits to ensure they get the most out of our Hydrotherapy Services.
Water Walkies offers dog hydrotherapy for learn to swim and water confidence lessons, fun and fitness, injury rehabilitation, pain and arthritis management, and weight loss. We support your companion’s journey to better health and wellbeing. All animals are introduced into the water at their own pace.
